JOBS Culinary Classes are in partnership with the Kenmore Neighborhood Alliance and CareSource Insurance.
Participating moms and young women come for three six-week courses, learning culinary skills in a customized curriculum created by our instructor, Jennifer Herrick. Each week includes classroom time, hands-on skills, and a complete selection of foods prepared and then shared by all the participants, mentors, and their children.
Course One, is the basics of culinary. We go over reading a recipe, proper knife skills and measuring, and having everything in place before starting. Course Two, we take a trip around the world. Each week we prepare foods from a different country. Course Three involves traveling to local restaurant venues, and having guest speakers in the industry visit our location for specialty classes. Once licensing benchmarks have been met, the participants have the opportunity to test for these licenses as a group.
Upon completion of the classes, the graduates are then welcomed to culinary opportunities within the Kenmore community and elsewhere.
JOBS make every effort to assist participating moms by providing childcare during the classes, and transportation as needed.
